I am the son and grandson of Haitian priests who served in that beautiful cathedral for many years where I also had the opportunity to serva as "accolyte".

When one is familiar with the history of the Haitian Episcopal church. The struggles that this nation went through, the spirit that inspired African-American Abolitionist Bishop Theodore Holly to land in Haiti in 1855 then to return there with 111 Africans to establish the original church. When one reads the moving details of Bishop Holly's funeral in 1911 Haiti, one can only hope that those in charge of deciding by whom and how this cathedral gets rebuilt...use the wisdom of the founders.

If in 1951, Haitian architechs designed the Cathedral, I would hope that in 2012 Haiti when, more than ever, this nation needs reasons to beleive in the capacity of its own sons and daughters, it will be a team of Haitians who lead the rebuilding of the cathedral.
